The long, deep fjords; the quiet mountain waters; the towering waterfalls, seething bogs, moss-covered pools, and babbling brooks — all of them fill the landscape with a pulse of life, and remain a constant source of inspiration in my work.

A single drop of water is clear and colourless, yet it holds the richest palette of all. It gathers the hues of its surroundings: the reflected landscape, the mirrored sky, the pale blues of winter ice, the glowing algae awakened by spring melt. The seasons transform its colours completely, and even each passing day offers new tonal shifts, fresh shades, and subtle variations.

Water carries a quiet mystery. The land around us reveals its fauna and flora openly, but the water hides its own teeming world beneath the surface. It is the beginning — the source of all life. In my artworks, water becomes both an anchor for the eye and a wellspring of inspiration, a guiding element that shapes the atmosphere of the landscapes I create.

We live in a country shaped by water: exposed to the vast horizon of the North Sea on one side, while on the other lie sheltered bays and deep, narrow fjords. These ancient landscapes, carved and formed by water over millennia, captivate me. Their presence informs the mood, the colour, and the quiet poetry that unfolds on the surface of the paper.

This artwork is made with soft pastels and has a fine layer of fixative as finishing coat. It has a delicate surface and needs the protection of glass. It ships flat in a box, and it’s available from my studio.
