Colourful Caprice 5

  • Size cm 76 x 56 cm

  • Handmade soft pastels on 300 g cold presset cotton paper.

Colourful Caprice belongs in the Colour Poetry series. The colours flow into each other impulsively and seemingly on a whim, creating a joyful mood with evocative shapes and playful lines.

This artwork is created in soft pastels on 300 g cotton paper with 4 deckle edges. It has a delicate surface and needs the protection of glass.

I prefer to work in pastels. Working with colored dust reminds me that the traces left behind should be soft and impermanent, something we seem to completely forget these days. We are here together for a little while, just visitors. The traces we leave behind must be of a different nature than what destroys the nature around us. I like to keep this quote from the Anglican Church's Liturgical Handbook in mind "Earth to earth, ashes to ashes, dust to dust" It's a humble reminder that gives me a perspective and presence of mind I appreciate.
