The light is special when the land is covered in snow. In the middle of the dark season everything changes when the snow arrives and blanket every surface, it lightens up and it is like the earth itself becomes the source of light. The landscape is familiar but feels new and pristine, there’s no fragrance and its all filled with stillness. Like a pause and a beautiful interlude.

Kristin is drawn to untouched nature, often using abstract landscapes to express moods and emotions, it is not site specific landscapes but more the essence of an experience expressed via a landscape. Kristin lives at the West coast of Norway and this closeness to the sea and fjords are always present in her artworks.

I  base my artwork on memories of places and experiences that is reinterpreted and reinvented through colour. The abstraction brings forth the essence and express specific moods and emotions of the experience, elevating the subject from place to atmosphere. I create my artworks in soft pastel that allows for exceptional degrees of intensity and fluidity and opens up for lyrical interpretations and make my compositions vibrate with character as it comes to life. It has a delicate surface and needs the protection of glass.
